Section 01 — The argument

Why big sizes
still don't fit

A great many extended sizes are not re-drafted. They are the standard block, multiplied. The circumference arrives; the proportions do not. The sleeve lengthens, the shoulder widens, the collar stays where it was and the front hem lifts.

So the garment is wrong, and it is possible to say exactly where. Tell us which part is off. We will tell you which grading trade-off produces it, and which number to check on the size chart before you buy.

This service explains a property of clothing. It does not describe, measure, assess or comment on any person, and it never asks you to.

Fig. 01 — Same chest measurement, two methodsNo registration required
SHOULDER 60.5SLEEVE 74.0LENGTH 84.0CHEST 82.0FIG. 01 / AScaled uniformly
Same chest. The shoulder point has travelled outward with the body, the sleeve has gained length nobody asked for, and the collar has barely moved. The body reads short because the added width consumed front length.
SHOULDER 52.0SLEEVE 66.5LENGTH 90.0CHEST 82.0FIG. 01 / BRe-drafted block
Same chest. The extra circumference was put into the side seam and the armhole instead. Shoulder and sleeve stayed close to where they began, the collar opened with the body, the front hem gained length.

Section 02 — Method

Three steps,
then you own it

The useful output is not a recommendation. It is a number you can look up yourself, on any chart, for the rest of the time you buy clothes.

  1. 01

    Say which part is wrong

Pick from a fixed list of symptoms — sleeve, shoulder, collar, hem, rise. Several at once if several are wrong. Nothing is asked about you, and there is no free-text box that could invite it.

Flat paper pattern pieces for a shirt spread on a cutting table: front, back, sleeve, cuff and collar, with notches and grain lines.
  2. 02

Read which grading trade-off causes it

Each symptom maps to a documented consequence of enlarging a block rather than re-drafting it — and to the honest note about when that symptom is caused by something else entirely.

A nested grading diagram: seven concentric outlines of the same panel, each one step larger, radiating from a shared origin.
  3. 03

Check that one number before you buy

You get the specific column to look for on the size chart, how to read the increment between sizes, and one question a seller can actually answer. Save the card; check it at the next order.

Pattern-drafting tools laid out on paper from above: metal ruler, French curve, hip curve, tracing wheel, chalk and pencil.
Section 02 — Reference

Which bit is wrong?

Woven shirts hold their shape, which makes a scaled block obvious: the shoulder point, the collar band and the front hem all disagree with each other.

Nothing on this page asks for, stores or infers a body measurement. Every row describes a property of a garment pattern. How the answers are produced.

Select a column header, or a symptom, to light the measurement that answers it. The bottom row is the increment per size — the number that shows whether a range was re-drafted or multiplied.

Your own chart

On a paid plan you can upload a screenshot of the chart you are actually looking at, and the relevant column is marked on your own image. Screenshots are read for numbers only, any brand marking is masked before export, and nothing you upload is used to train a model.

Section 04 — On your own chart

Marked on the chart
you are actually reading

Every chart publishes a different set of columns, under different names, measured from different points. Upload a screenshot of the one in front of you and the column that answers your symptom is marked directly on your own image — along with the increment between sizes, which is the number that shows whether the range was re-drafted at all.

  • Screenshots are read for figures only.
  • Any brand marking in the image is masked before the annotated version is exported.
  • Annotations are drawn in the browser as text and lines, so every label is exact and editable.
  • Nothing you upload is used to train a model, ever.
  • Images containing a person are rejected at upload and are not stored.

Section 06 — Questions

Questions with
plain answers

Two of these get asked more than the rest, so they are first.

01Is it my body that is the problem?

No, and this service is not able to answer a question about anyone's body, because it never has any information about one. Cutwise reads two things: which symptom you selected from a fixed list, and — if you choose to upload one — the numbers printed on a size chart.

What it explains is a property of pattern grading: a documented, general technical practice in which a larger size is produced by multiplying a smaller block rather than re-drafting it, and the predictable places where that goes wrong. It makes no judgement about any person, collects no body measurements, accepts no photographs of people, and generates no images of people.

02Will you tell me which brand to buy?

No. Cutwise names no brand, ranks no brand, and makes no statement about any particular company's grading practice. That would be a negative factual claim about an identifiable business, and it is not something this service does.

What it describes is the technique — what a uniform scale does to a pattern, and which measurement on a published chart reveals it. You apply that to whatever chart is in front of you. If a size chart you upload carries a brand marking, that marking is masked before the annotated image is exported.

03What happens to what I upload, and is it used to train a model?

No content you upload is used to train any model. A size-chart screenshot is read once to extract the figures, kept for as long as the associated garment file exists in your account, and deleted permanently within 30 days of you deleting the file or closing your account.

The upload path accepts flat-lay photographs of garments and screenshots of size charts only. Images containing a person are rejected at upload and are not stored. You can delete any upload at any time from your account, and request full erasure under Art. 17 DSGVO at support@zadamofashion.com. Details are in the Datenschutzerklärung.

04How accurate is this, and what is it not?

The answers are generated with the assistance of an AI system and describe general technical tendencies, not verified facts about any specific garment. Grading practice varies, blocks vary, and a published size chart may itself be wrong or measured by a method it does not state.

Every answer includes a “may not be a grading issue” field for that reason, and it is never abbreviated or hidden. Cutwise does not promise that any purchase will fit, and it is not advice — medical, health, weight, legal, financial or otherwise. See the KI-Hinweis.

05How do refunds and the right of withdrawal work?

You have 14 days to withdraw from a subscription without giving a reason (§ 355 BGB). The full conditions and the model withdrawal form are on the Widerrufsrecht page.

At checkout you are asked to tick two separate boxes: one requesting that the service starts immediately, and one acknowledging that doing so ends the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully provided (§ 356 Abs. 5 BGB). Neither box is pre-ticked. If you do not tick both, the service starts after the 14 days and your right of withdrawal is untouched. Both statements are repeated in the order confirmation email.

Outside the withdrawal period, a subscription can be cancelled at any time and runs to the end of the paid period. We also refund the current period in full, on request, where the service has not been usable.

06How do I cancel, and what happens to my allowance?

Cancel in your account under Subscription, in two clicks, at any time. No email, no call, no retention flow. The subscription then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and does not renew.

The monthly allowance is a usage allowance only. It is not money, it is not stored value, it is not redeemable for cash and it cannot be transferred. It resets at the start of each period and does not carry over. There are no top-up packs: if you run out, you either wait for the reset or move up a plan.

07What does a subscription cost, and in which currency?

Grade is 8 US dollars (USD) per month or 77 USD per year. Block is 24 USD per month or 230 USD per year. Free is 0 USD and stays free. All prices are stated inkl. MwSt. — value added tax included where it applies.

The annual price is the discounted one: it is charged once for twelve months and renews annually. Switching between monthly and annual takes effect at the next renewal. There are no set-up fees and no charges beyond the plan price.

08Is there an age limit?

Yes. Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. Cutwise is a paid subscription service and requires the legal capacity to enter a contract. We do not knowingly create accounts for minors; if we learn that an account belongs to one, we close it and delete the associated data.

09Which garments does it cover?

Shirts, t-shirts, outerwear and trousers — the four categories in the reference above. Coverage is limited to outerwear and everyday clothing sold with a published size chart. It does not cover footwear, tailoring made to measure, or anything sold without measurements, because without a chart there is no number to check.

It was never a mystery.
It was a grading decision.

Start with one symptom. You will have the column to check in about a minute, and you will keep it.
